Black Lemonade Looks Intimidating, Tastes Great

Activated charcoal turns your lemonade black and makes it healthy.

Black Lemonade

Turning a pitcher of lemonade into a dark and stormy cocktail is guaranteed to be a hit at your next BBQ or backyard party, and may have some added health benefits as well.

The color comes from activated charcoal, like these Activated Charcoal Capsules from Nature’s Way, which also has added benefits like whitening teeth, alleviating gas and bloating, preventing hangovers, cleansing your digestive system, and reducing high cholesterol.

To make Black Lemonade, you will need:

For each serving, cut one lemon in half and squeeze the juice into a glass, making sure to pick out any seeds that may squirt in.

Next, break open 1 activated charcoal capsule (or 2, depending on the dosage recommended by your bottle) and add it to the lemon juice, stirring to combine.

Then, fill the glass with ice, top off with water, and add your sweetener to taste. More sweetener for a sweeter drink, less if you like yours a little more tart.

You can make this recipe by the glass, or prepare a whole pitcher if you want to share with others. Plus you can use the recipe as a base for a more adult cocktail, like a Lemonade Margarita, by mixing roughly 2 and 1/4 cups lemonade with 3/4 cup of tequila.
